700 Jobs lost with the help of Congressman Allen Boyd (D)
Earlier I wrote about Sallie Mae closing up and 700 jobs being lost because of the Obama Health Care Bill that Congressman Allen Boyd helped pass. Well it is official now.
LYNN HAVEN  Sallie Mae will close its facility in Lynn Haven, officials announced Wednesday.
All 700 jobs will be eliminated, not transferred, and the facility is expected to be put up for sale by the end of the year.
The closure is the result of the health care legislation Congress and President Obama approved last month. A portion of the legislation included a measure that is designed to save about $9 billion to offset health-care costs. – NewsHearld.com
Looks like there will be an additional 700 people in the Unemployment line waiting on government assistance and health care. Just what the Democrats in Congress want.
I’m not so sure what Congressman Boyd was thinking when he made this statement:
In response Wednesday, U.S. Rep. Allen Boyd, D-Monticello, said he still has plans to “keep Sallie Mae employees in place and working for the forseeable future.”
There isn’t any way to keep a business from closing if it isn’t making any money. What is he going to do? Insert some amendment into a piece of legislation to fund the business? Or is he going to claim that it should be covered under the TARP program because it is a lender?
Maybe Congressman Boyd should have thought about that when he had a chance to vote No.
Perhaps those 700 who are looking to lose their jobs soon will remember one of the people who helped put them out of work is Congressman Allen Boyd. They should remember him at the ballot box and help make sure he feels their pain by putting him out of work as well.
