Florida Secret Ballot Saved!

Voting along party lines, the Florida Senate Passed legislation designed to protect Floridians right to a secret ballot when it comes to voting for or against a union.

This is at odds with Democrats who claim that the “Secret Ballot” allows employers to intimidate their Employees.

Now, I’m not certain about you but I just can’t see how an Employer is supposed to intimidate an Employee if they don’t know how they voted on a union vote. But I can see how a Union would intimidate employees if the vote was open to scrutiny. Not only that, but without the secret ballot, some employees may never know about a union being formed until it is too late to do anything about it.

Funny, and quite hypocritical, how Rep. Richard Steinberg(D) thinks that this legislation is deceptive.

The Florida proposal has been titled “Guaranteeing the Right to Vote by Secret Ballot” to confuse voters and hide it’s real purpose, said Rep. Richard Steinberg, D-Miami Beach.

“The intent of the language is to mislead the voters, to make the voters think that they are voting in favor of protecting their own rights at that ballot box,” Steinberg said. “That is not what this is about.”

Yet, the bill Passed through Congress was labeled “Employee Free Choice Act”. Nothing free in that other than the freedom to never vote.

Our good Congressman Allen Boyd(D) and Senator Bill Nelson(D) both voted to strip your right to a secret ballot from you in Congress.

Thanks to your Republican State Senators though, that right is now protected.
