Florida to attack the Illegal Immigrant Issue like Arizona?
If state Republicans have their way, there may soon be a law similar to the one in Arizona for Florida.
Florida Republican leaders have begun crafting anti-illegal-immigrant legislation modeled after an Arizona law that has incited widespread protests and fueled national and international debate over U.S. immigration policies.
Under the proposed bill, police would have broad power under state law to ask suspects for proof of legal residency, said Rep. William Snyder, a Republican from Stuart who plans to introduce the legislation in November. – Miami Hearld
This is great news. It is time to start doing something about it in all states. Unfortunately, the Democrat Controlled Congress and President Obama have made amnesty a requisite to tackling the problem of Illegal Immigration.
It is completely unacceptable that those who break the law could be granted citizenship while those who follow the rules and wait, sometimes, years are shuffled to the back of the line behind those here illegally. This is what would happen if Democrats had their way.
Democrats would rather ignore laws that they don’t agree with. Laws that are not enforced because they choose to have a larger base of voters. Some of whom are probably not actually eligible to vote.
If the Federal Government wants to continue turning a blind eye to the problems that the states are having with not only their budgets but with employment in part due to illegal immigration then it is time that the states take the matter into their own hands and pass laws that will require enforcement.
There are those who say this smacks of racism and discriminates against Hispanics but that is not true. There are many immigrants of many different nations here in Florida. Some of who come for work and school never to return to their native countries.
Then there are the Human rights activists who are “worried” about such laws. Perhaps they should examine the reason why people come here illegally in the first place.
Democrat Alex Sink would veto such a bill. She would have to if she wanted to keep the support of the Hispanic population.
Personally, I think it is many years late. The sooner it gets passed and enforced the better.
