Fred Thompson a contender?
So far everything is showing Fred Thompson being a serious threat to Rudy Giuliani.
No, he did not place at the top of the Iowa Polls. That was Mitt Romey. Neither did Giuliani. But nationally, he places second and is gaining ground on Giuliani.
His fund raising for the last quarter was dismal compared to the other running mates but you have to consider that if you averaged it out he came out on top for the fund raising that he did do. With 24 days in the quarter to raise funds you couldn’t expect him to come out on top when everyone else had 90 days.
In the recent GOP debate, while Giuliani and Romey sniped at each other, Thompson basically stole the show. Critics gave the win to the debate to Thompson.
If this doesn’t represent a threat to Giuliani, Romey, McCain and the others, I don’t know what is.
