General Riemer Replaced.
Though this has been in the daily news for some time, I have been waiting to see who was to be replacing General Riemer.
General Riemer was notified on monday that he would be moved to the pentagon to replace another retiring general. This could happen as early as January and is not in the normal rotation schedule for the 46th Test wing. General Riemer is being moved early.
Now this could be a normal thing and it very well could be a positive step for General Riemer, but the timing of this is highly suspect. It is quite well known that General Riemer is an advocate of keeping the 46th Test Wing at Eglin AFB and this is contrary to the wishes of his boss, General Carlson, Airforce Material Command. General Carlson replaces General Riemer with another general who is highly experienced with Edwards AFB in California and has no experience with Eglin AFB here in Florida.
I am sure that General Eidsaune is highly competent in his job but it only looks like a political move by General Carlson at this point. There may need to be some ethics investigation into the reason General Carlson decided to replace an advocate of Eglin AFB with someone who would be more likely to advocate for Edwards AFB.
Fortunately, Rep. Jeff Miller(R) is skeptical of this move and has pledged to look into this. For his sake, I hope he does. No comment from our Senator, Bill Nelson(D), on this as of this post.
