Health Care Reform in the new year
Alas, it appears that Health Care Reform will be passed in some manner that will not be pretty. Promises to provide everyone with Health Insurance has devolved into a “requirement” that health care be obtained by everyone under penalty of fine or jail time.
Though the final draft that will eventually go to the President is still to be determined, it is almost certain that the way insurance currently pays for health care will change.
Some of the good things that may come from this is the inability of Insurance to drop you because of a condition you may have and the ability for everyone to gain insurance regardless of pre-existing conditions. This is both a good and bad thing. Good for those in need of insurance and bad for those providing the insurance.
The Bills that passed and will eventually go to the President will probably not solve anything. At the least, the new law will create a bureaucracy to tell you what you can and cannot do with health insurance and fine you for not obeying.
Though it could turn out to be a huge boon for Insurance agencies. The possibility of creating an entire new class of insurance to supplement the bad insurance which will result from the legislation passed is great. People will not want to be saddled with mediocre insurance. The rich will pay more for their insurance than the poor will. The health care provided will be better for those who can afford supplemental insurance. Doctors will screen the patients they take to keep from losing money. Those with supplemental insurance will get preferential treatment ahead of those without.
Many doctors already do not accept Medicare patients due to the low pay and length of time that it takes for payments to arrive. Even the Mayo Clinic recently announced it would no longer accept Medicare patients.
Why is this? It is because the Government has control of the purse strings of Medicare. Costs go up but the amount the government is willing to pay doesn’t.
Do you think that this wouldn’t happen? Many other countries with socialized medicine already experience this problem. Japan is probably the biggest example of this. Where bribery can get you to the head of the line.
Health care reform is here. It is just a matter of time before they hammer out a bill that goes before the President. The game will change but it won’t be what they want it to be. Some will be more equal than others. Just look at Congress, they will be quite a bit more equal than those they represent. They planned it that way.
Senator Bill Nelson(D) helped cast of of the 60 votes required for this to pass. If he had voted “No”, there would be no health care bill.
Thanks Bill, we obviously can’t make decisions on our own. Nor will you listen to our concerns or vote the way we would like. Perhaps we can find someone who will listen and vote the way we want the next time you are up for election.
