Now a word from the real people affected by the Bailout of the Big Three, the UAW

On the heels of the begging from the Big Three Automakers, the UAW just has to put it’s two cents in.

Why not just say that if you don’t bail us out we will go on strike? Or just come out and say that we will make sure that many others go down with us. Let’s get that arm twisting going so that you can feel sorry for the UAW.

If they hadn’t been so adamant about their refusal to compromise on the contracts to help the Automakers survive maybe people would have more sympathy for them. Or if the contracts with the Big Three Automakers weren’t so lucrative that people could relate more to their situation.

Seriously. Just because a company goes into bankruptcy does not mean that they will go out of business. If that were the case then Delta Airlines and Northwest Airlines would have both been gone years ago.

What are the Unions afraid of? Are they afraid of getting the massive amounts of dues from members? Are they worried they will be marginalized and have to find other lines of work?

Allahpundit over at HotAir begs this question:

A final deal reportedly could involve a “big role” for government in restructuring the companies with even a “car czar” appointed for oversight — which has worked out super for TARP thus far. What could go wrong?

Indeed, what could go wrong? Major loopholes in TARP have made it a vehicle for fleecing. Nearly half of the $700 Billion alloted is already spent and not much results have been noticed. More has been done with promises from the Treasury Department than the Bailout. You can thank Congressman Allen Boyd(D) for his support of the Bailout Boondoggle.

With many members of Congress ready to just give the Automakers will they make the same mistake and give the Automakers a blank check? I certainly hope not.
