Of course Government Jobs Pay more

I can understand some of the criticism of Government worker pay. It does look like they get paid quite a bit more than their private sector counterparts. And it is true. They do. Anyone can look at the pay scale and see that.

Why does a government broadcast technician make 83% more than one in the private sector? Why does the government employ public relations managers at all? Clearly, these jobs could be outsourced by contract and save the taxpayers a lot of money.

Why aren’t they outsourced? Most of these jobs are unionized. The SEIU and AFSCME have a grip on the federal workplace, which is — not coincidentally — why taxpayers pay double for a recreation worker, or 45% more for pest control salaries rather than just call Orkin. – Hot Air

But what they don’t understand is that Contractors are increasingly costing the Government more than Government Employees. In many cases, the Government is finding it cheaper to hire those Contractors on as Government Employees. It is happening at Government installations all over. A little at a time. Over 200 positions are to be converted from Contractor to Government here at Eglin in the next year.

No, I am not a Government Employee. I would dearly love to be one but I’m not counting on it any time soon. Though if it takes much more time to find Government Job then I’ll probably just quit looking for one as it wouldn’t be beneficial for me to change.

Nor am I a fan of Unions. I worked hard to keep the Union out of my workplace. The Government Employees I know don’t really care if the Union is there or not. Sometimes the Union makes it difficult to get things done or change how things are done. And the Union does make it extremely difficult to get rid of bad employees.

Now do Government employees get more money and benefits? I’m not really sure I understand why people even question this. Many times those employees are the ones who are targeted by people who have some issues. The recent attacks of an IRS building and the Pentagon come to mind.

Security, clearances, rules and a myriad of other things makes working for the Government more stressful at times as well. Many Government workers cannot do the same things that Private sector employees, or Congress for that matter, can do. Some things would get those Government workers thrown in jail. Members of Congress just keep on doing them. Private sector employees can get a slap on the wrist or fired.

As far as pay is concerned, you can thank Congress for that. In order for them to keep the best and brightest, sometimes, they have to pay them well. And that will sometimes mean increasing the salaries of every pay scale to be fair.

If you really want to know why Government workers get paid more you should really look at the Private sector employers who continue to profit more and more without giving those who create those profits more in return.

Does this mean that Unions are the answer? I don’t think so. Many times a Union does nothing for the employees but make things more difficult. It should be possible for workers to get increased benefits and pay without a Union. Employers should have enough ethics to realize that people who work for them need to be paid a fair wage and share in the profits(growth) of the companies they work for.

No, I don’t see anything wrong with a company making a profit. I think all should make a profit. But the employees should profit just as much as the company. If there is a ten percent increase in profits, there should be a corresponding increase in wages perhaps.

The problem isn’t Government pay. The problem is Private sector pay. Apparently, profits are more important.

I believe it is all about Ethics in the Private sector, not Government paying exorbitant salaries. Maybe there needs to be more Government workers. I know $700 Billion probably would have created more Government jobs than it has created private jobs.
