Sen. Brownback officially drops out of 2008 campaign
The first casualty of the GOP Primary race. Senator Brownback had been struggling with financing and had gathered the least amount of money for last quarter.
He also blamed the media, in part, for his poor showing in the polls and on the campaign trail.
Brownback blamed a shortage of campaign funds and media pessimism about his chances for his inability to compete in the race for the Republican presidential nomination.
“We’ve really been held (back) early on by the media saying ‘we don’t think he can do it,’” Brownback said. – Reuters
Which might be entirely true. The media has a tendency to cause things to happen with their reporting rather than just report the facts.
There is much speculation as to whom the voters he had gathered would move to. The socially conservative voters he had gathered may go to Mike Huckabee.
No one in the GOP race should consider this loss as a large bump up in the polling. But the field is narrowing so it will be interesting to see who will be next.
