The new Health Care law on Young Adult Ages doesn’t Apply to TriCare.

Once again, Military families are getting the short end of the stick when it comes to Health Care and the Obama administration. This time in the form of the new Health Care law that allows coverage of Young adults until they are 26 years of age.

The new law will not cover those young adults in a Military family who rely on Tricare. Their coverage ends when they turn 21. There will be a gap of a couple of years before they are eligible to enroll in one of the “pooled” insurance plans.

Many military families are also just learning that the young adult children provision — and the rest of the overhaul — won’t apply to TRICARE, the Defense Department health plan serving 9.6 million active and retired service members and their families.

“I’m more than disappointed. . . . I’m ticked off,” said Bruce Bramblet, a retired helicopter instructor for the Army.

Since graduating from college last year, Bramblet’s son, an aspiring graphic designer, has had only part-time jobs that don’t offer health insurance. He lost his eligibility for TRICARE last month when he turned 21. Though Bramblet, who works for Boeing in Seattle, has been able to keep his son on one of the company’s plans, the coverage is less generous. – Washington Post

Of course, most young adults don’t really require health insurance at 21 anyway but that is not the point. This is just another snub of the Military by Democrats. Why someone associated with the Department of Defense would continue voting for them is beyond me.

Thanks for caring about our military families Congressman Boyd.
