US Death Rate in Iraq at an all time low.
Last month saw the lowest level of casualties in Iraq for US forces since the beginning of the Iraq War.
May total deaths for US forces numbered at nineteen. This is the lowest since the start of the war. Only one other month was close to this in February of 2004 with 20 deaths.
This is another indication that the current policies are working and given time the situation in Iraq will only continue to improve.
Of course, this also leads to the issue of the withdraw hawks saying that things can start to be drawn down now that things have improved. Which is true to a point.
Look for Senator Obama to make a trip, not to meet with military commanders for a progress report and recommendation, but to see for himself how best to start retreating from Iraq now that things are starting to improve.
