US Government starting to get on board with Twitter?

Twitter still seems to be the up and coming web application of the year. More and more people are using it every day. Even the US Government is starting to use it.

Check out a list of Government agencies and officials using twitter to tweet about their votes and policies.

Could be quite useful in trying to get to know what and why your Government and Congressmen/Congresswomen are doing. Unfortunately, not many in the Senate or House have found this technology. And some of those who have don’t update or follow those who follow them. Leaving the flow of information a one way street.

Sad to see that none of our congressmen in Northwest Florida have even created an Account. I have contacted both Congressman Jeff Miller(R) and Congressman Allen Boyd(D) to find out if they are going to start twittering. Neither one has responded as yet.

It looks like Senator Mel Martinez(R) has an account and updates it but he doesn’t follow anyone back. Bad form. His staff should know better. But I guess it is all moot since he doesn’t plan on running for reelection anyway.

Twitter is a great way for our Representatives to get input from ordinary Citizens. Contact yours to ask them to join Twitter.
