Where’s the stimulus? Looks like pork to me.

I haven’t heard anything good about either version of the bill, American Recovery and Reinvestment Act of 2009 H.R. 1. Nothing suggests that this will actually do anything for those it is supposed to help.

There is lots of money for projects that would be best financed through the normal channels. But there doesn’t appear to be much for actually helping create jobs now.

Ed Morriesy over at Hot Air has a great list of things the Senate version will fund.

According to a front-page report by the Washington Post, we can expect billions in waste with the current stimulus plan, thanks to a lack of control over the spending mechanisms in DC. The already-overburdened acquisition system won’t keep pace with the demands of the bill, resulting in lost resources on a scale that could fund entire departments for a year

Honestly, both versions of this bill look to be nothing but a bad way to waste billions of dollars with no oversight. Similar to what Democrats complain has happened with Iraq. Yet on a scale several times more massive.

Sad thing is that it will probably pass. Enough Republicans have jumped on the bandwagon with the Democrats that it is almost assured to pass.

At least President Obama acknowledges that the bill isn’t perfect. But it isn’t all that good either.
